Congratulations to Newberry Elementary School Physical Education teacher Sean Ralston for being named the South Carolina Association of Teacher Educators Cooperating Teacher of the Year. Ralston will be recognized at the SCATE annual conference Friday, October 4 at Claflin University in Orangeburg.

Sean Ralston is the Physical Education teacher at Newberry Elementary School. He began his education career by receiving his bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the

University of South Carolina, Aiken. He previously taught 1st grade and kindergarten at NES before transitioning to physical education. During the past 3 years, he has had the opportunity to mentor six fantastic student teachers who have gone on to accept PE positions in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Australia. During their time at NES, they learn how to plan engaging lessons and build positive relationships with students. Each student teacher has left a lasting impact on the students and himself, creating bonds that will last for a lifetime. In his free time he enjoys going to the gym, taking trips with his golden retriever, and spending time with friends and family.
