RE: Ms. Jennifer Brown named Newberry Middle School Assistant Principal
We are proud to announce the hiring of Ms. Jennifer Brown, Assistant Principal at Newberry Middle School. Ms. Brown has been a teacher for (7) years in the School District of Newberry County. Ms. Brown is a proud high school graduate of Whitmire Community School. Ms. Brown graduated from USC Upstate with a degree in business administration. Ms. Brown earned her master's degree from Grand Canyon University in Educational Administration. Ms. Brown was named the 22-23 Newberry Middle School Teacher of the Year. During the 23-24 school year (Sept. 2023) Ms. Brown was named "WLTX Teacher of the Week." Ms. Brown was named the 2022-2023 Distinguished Literacy Teacher of the Year. Ms. Brown is the founder and lead coordinator of the PAWsitive Tiger Experience Mentorship Program. Ms. Brown also served as the Newberry Middle School related arts team leader, SDNC Computer Science Lead Teacher for the district, Newberry Middle School Student Ambassadors Lead Teacher, NMS Tiger News Lead Teacher, and assisted NMS administration by participating in the NMS Leadership Academy and serving as the Lead Administrator during the summer of 2023 and summer of 2024 as the "summer school lead administrator." In addition, Ms. Brown has served as a homebound instructor and worked at the Newberry Adult & Continuing Education, Workplace as the Literacy Coordinator since 2022.
Ms. Brown will be a tremendous asset to Newberry Middle School as an Assistant Principal. Ms. Brown's responsibilities will include attendance, excessive tardies, I.D.'s, AP over Jr. Beta Club, Testing Coordinator assisting Ms. Cannon with WIDA, Textbook Coordinator, Awards Celebrations, 504 Coordinator, 8th Grade Administrator and will assist with evaluations/observations.

All athletes must have an updated physical in order to participate in any sport!
Football🏈
Practice begins Aug 5th from 3:30-5:30 at NMS. Practice for the remainder of the week will be 6-8pm.
Volleyball🏐
Tryouts will be held Aug 6-7th in the NMS gym from 3:30-5:30pm
Cheer📣
Tryouts will be held on Aug 6-7th from 3:30-5:30 in the NMS cafeteria. Cheerleaders are asked to bring a t shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes to tryouts.

Book bag (Note: Student may purchase their own book bag).
Pencil pouch that includes: 3 mechanical pencils, pack of index cards, 3 blue pens 3 black pens, 2 highlighters and an eraser
(4) composition notebooks
1 binder
(4)- 3 prong folders
1 pack of paper
1 agenda
2 glue sticks

NMS Volleyball tryouts will be held on Aug 6th and 7th. Prospective players are asked to bring a t shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes to tryouts. All athletes must have an updated physical in order to participate.
