Due to the internet outage in the county, as a result of AT&T cutting a line, the district is also experiencing internet issues. However, classes will be held for all N1 students. We are aware that many of our students are experiencing outages and will adjust attendance accordingly. We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the day and provide updates. This outage also affects the phone lines at GES. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Parents, please take some time to review the most recent changes to the Parent/Guardian Toolkit for Reopening. The changes are on Page 12 English ; Page 13 Spanish, pages 42 & 43 and are listed below. Plexiglass Use in Schools - Per DHEC Consistent with its existing policy, DHEC is providing further information regarding use of plexiglass barriers between students. As noted in the COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions for School Officials from August 14, 2020, appropriate plexiglass use, combined with other measures, allows for shorter distances for social distancing. In scenarios in which students are seated closer apart than six feet, the students would not be considered close contacts when: 1. appropriate plexiglass is utilized, and 2. distance between students is at least three feet apart, and 3. the students are wearing cloth face coverings or face masks that cover the nose and mouth (the plexiglass does not serve as a substitute to mask-wearing). Plexiglass is considered appropriately sized and utilized if it surrounds three sides (the front and two sides) of the edges of the student’s desk and extends at least a foot above each child’s head when seated at the desk and at least a foot beyond the end of the desk on either side. There may be acceptable other configurations, as determined on an individual basis by DHEC. If the above requirements are not met when using plexiglass to allow for shorter distances for social distancing, then those within 6 feet for a cumulative of 15 minutes would be considered a close contact and would have to be quarantined. Page 33 Note:Those who test positive by a PCR (mouth or throat swab) test or similar viral test but do not have symptoms will be required to stay out of school until ten (10) days* after the specimen was collected. *Note: some people who test positive may be required to extend the isolation period to twenty (20) days. Their doctor will need to determine if this is necessary. Page 23 Either a negative PCR or Antigen test (mouth or nose swab) *If your provider does a follow up send off PCR test, your child must stay out of school until those results are received. OR Medical evaluation determines that symptoms were likely due to another cause (e.g. sore throat due to strep throat) In this case, your student can return when they meet criteria for that condition. Statement to return to school should say that symptoms not due to COVID-19 and were likely due to another cause. The alternate diagnosis must be listed. Page 42 and 43 *The above italicized note regarding time on day 1 of quarantine does not apply. Day 14 is considered a full day of quarantine regardless of time of contact on day 1. 🐊Attention Parents of Hybrid Students🐊 Here's the information from tonight's weekly phone call: 🐊Attendance is tied to students completing work on eLearning Days (the 3 days when your child is not in school). The days they are not in school are not free days. They must complete the work sent by teachers. If a child consistently does not complete work, it will be counted as absences, so please make sure your child is doing what teachers are assigning on the off days. 🐊Please make sure school issued devices come to school fully charged EVERY DAY. This is not an option. 🐊If you have questions about your child's class, please contact your child's teacher. Please be mindful that teachers have families also, so emails, calls, and texts should be during normal business hours. Teachers will respond during their working hours. 🐊Students have been doing an excellent job wearing masks. Please continue to encourage them to wear masks every day and to be sure to practice social distancing. 🐊Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home each day. Make sure they know which bus they ride (Gator 1, Gator 2, Gator 3, or Gator 4). If the drop off address changes for bus riders, parents must complete a new bus contract. If there are transportation changes, there must be a note written in the child's agenda. 🐊Thank you for your hard work, patience, and support as we have ventured into a new school year. Each week is getting better. You are appreciated and we hope you have a chomp, chomp, chomp Gatoriffic Day!

🖱Attention Parents of Virtual Students🖱 Here's the information from tonight's weekly phone call: 🖱Laptop Covers- We still have a few 3rd-5th grade students who have not picked up laptop covers. You may do this between 8am and 3pm. 🖱School Supplies- Be sure to pick up your child's school supplies if you have not done so already. We are supplying a white board and a dry erase marker for our virtual students to use during live lessons with teachers. 🖱Attendance is tied to students logging in to Schoology each day and attending the live Google Meetings held by teachers. Students MUST join class during the live sessions and stay logged in to the class the entire time. Leaving early while the teacher is providing instruction will count as an absence. The policy states that students must attend the entire time. Attendance is taken after ALL daily live sessions are done. 🖱If you have questions about your child's class, please contact your child's teacher. Please be mindful that teachers have families also, so emails, calls, and texts should be during normal business hours. Teachers will respond during their working hours when they are not doing any live sessions. 🖱Virtual School Manners- Parents, we need to make sure students are practicing virtual school manners while on live with teachers. There should not be any recording or taking photos during live instruction due to the privacy of other children. 🖱If you would like to sign up to pick up meals for the week, please go to : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdJr3L52CLLdxfVz7G8QKnhZ76VBRB4pZKo9X6m2H6Tirj9HQ/viewform Pickup will be on Wednesday from 10-12 at the back of the cafeteria. Please drive to the back of the cafeteria and ring the doorbell. One of the cafeteria ladies will bring your food to you. 🖱Thank you for your hard work, patience, and support!
